Following Stacy’s directions, I was able to play a game of Bejewelled without having to download anything onto my computer (bonus!) It was a fun game, but I’m more of a word game girl. Sadly, I must admit that I recently became addicted to a word game on my daughter’s Webkinz account. She was thrilled – I was racking up points on her account for her to buy lots of virtual ‘stuff’.

I attended a session at the Public Library Association conference about library promotions on second life that I found pretty interesting. The suggestion was that libraries could use second life as a way of advertising online databases. I’m not sure how useful an idea this is – but it might be worth a try!

Finally something I have had success with and find very useful in my real life. I download books from E-audio quite frequently for my son. Our latest downdown onto his MP3 player is Eoin Colfer’s Artemis Fowl: the Opal Deception. The books are quite easy to download onto the computer, but I have had some problems transferring the files to the MP3 player in the past. We tried a different MP3 on the weekend and had great success. For this exercise, I tried to download Artemis Fowl from the NetLibrary website, only to discover it was not currently available. I do like the fact that E Audio gives you the current status and allows you to place holds for titles not currently available.

Week 11 – No luck

I was unable to set up RSS feeds on my computer – I repeatedly got an error message stating that Internet Explorer requires me to have MSXML3 SP5 or greater in order to view feeds.

I have tried playing around with some of the online tools making trading cards and calendars. Fun for some – but not for me!
